Permission Reference: Accounting & Journal
This table lists all permissions that control access to accounting and journal functions in Usystems.
| Permission | What It Controls | Allowed Actions |

| account.view | View chart of accounts | Users can see the full chart of accounts, including account numbers, names, balances, and account types (asset, liability, equity, income, expense). |
| account.create | Create accounts | Users can add new accounts to the chart of accounts. |
| account.update | Edit accounts | Users can modify account properties (name, account type, tax category), update descriptions, and manage account hierarchies. |
| journal.view | View journal & transactions | Users can see all journal entries, general ledger transactions, and audit trails showing who made changes and when. |
| journal.create | Create journal entries | Users can manually journalize transactions (debit/credit entries) to the general ledger. |

Which roles typically need these?
- Accountants → account.view, journal.view, journal.create (for day-to-day GL management)
- Chief accountant → all permissions (for GL oversight and new account setup)
- Finance manager → all permissions (for financial close and reporting)
- Auditors → account.view, journal.view (for reviewing transactions)
- Admin → all permissions (full control)
What happens without these permissions?
Without account.view, users cannot see the chart of accounts or GL balances (affecting reports). Without journal.create, users cannot post manual journal entries.
