Filters and options in the AR Aging Summary report
Reference list of available filters and settings to customize your AR aging report.
Jul 11, 2026
When running the AR Aging Summary report, you can use filters and date options to focus the results. Below is a reference guide to each option.
Main settings
| Option | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Report Date | The date as of which aging is calculated. All invoice ages are relative to this date. | Set to 2026-07-03 to see aging as of today. |
| Date Range | (Optional) Some versions allow filtering invoices by date range in addition to the aging calculation. | Filter to invoices created between 2026-01-01 and 2026-07-03. |
Available filters
| Filter | Effect | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Customer | Show only invoices from a specific customer or list of customers. | Type the customer name or select from a dropdown. You can filter by multiple customers. |
| Currency | Show only invoices in a specific currency. | Useful if your business uses multiple currencies. Selecting multiple currencies shows separate totals. |
| Status | Filter by invoice status (e.g., Draft, Approved, Paid, Overdue, etc.). | Different statuses may be available depending on your workflow settings. |
| Product Line or Department | Filter to invoices linked to a specific product line or department. | Available only if your business is organized this way. |
| Contact Type | Filter to customers of a specific type (e.g., Retail, Wholesale, Internal). | Optional; depends on your contact classification setup. |
Filter behavior
- Multiple filters stack with AND logic: If you filter by Customer "ABC" AND Currency "USD," the report shows only USD invoices from customer ABC.
- Removing a filter: Click the X next to any applied filter to remove it.
- Resetting all filters: Most reports have a Clear Filters button to reset to the unfiltered view.
Column headers and sorting
Most aging summary tables allow you to:
- Click a column header to sort by that column (e.g., sort by Total descending to see the largest outstanding balances first).
- Hover over a column name to see a brief description of what that column represents.
Export and display options
After running the report, you may see additional options:
| Option | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Export to Excel or Download | Save the report as a spreadsheet for use in other tools or for email distribution. |
| Open a print dialog to send the report to your printer or save as PDF. | |
| Show/Hide Columns | On some reports, you can toggle which columns display (e.g., hide the "Current" column if not relevant). |
Tips for effective filtering
- Start broad, then refine: Run the report without filters first to see the big picture, then add filters to focus on problem areas.
- Use date filtering for history: To see aging as of a past month-end, set the Report Date to that date (e.g., 2026-06-30).
- Currency matters: If your customers invoice in different currencies, filter by currency to avoid currency-conversion confusion.
- Status filters can hide unpaid invoices: If you filter to "Approved" status only, you may miss overdue invoices in other statuses.
