One-time and walk-in customers

Understand when and how to use walk-in customer records for transactions without a stored customer.

What is a walk-in customer?

A walk-in (متفرقه) is a one-time customer who makes a single purchase without a permanent record in your system. Unlike a named customer, you don't create an advance entry for them; instead, you log the sale immediately without storing their details.

Why use walk-in?

Walk-in customers are common in retail and service businesses:

  • Faster transactions: You don't pause to create a customer record. Ideal for high-volume, low-value sales (e.g., pharmacy over-the-counter, retail checkout).
  • Privacy: You're not collecting or storing customer data unless they request it.
  • Simpler reports: Walk-in totals are grouped under a generic "Walk-in" or "Other" entry rather than cluttering your customer list.

How it works in Usystems

When you create an invoice, sales receipt, or POS transaction, you have two options:

  1. Named customer: Select an existing customer from the dropdown (they must be created in advance).
  2. Walk-in / متفرقه: Leave the customer field blank or select the generic Walk-in option (if available in your product).

Walk-in transactions:

  • Are recorded with a blank or generic customer name
  • Appear in sales reports under "Walk-in" or "Uncategorized"
  • Do not create a customer balance or account
  • Can still track revenue by product, date, and payment method

When to create a named customer instead

Create a real customer record if:

  • The person orders repeatedly and you want to track their total spending
  • They need credit terms (e.g., "pay within 30 days")
  • You want to send invoices to their email or address
  • They may return items or settle a balance later

For one-time customers who never return, walk-in is simpler and cleaner.
