Printing diagnostic reports

Generate a paper or digital copy of a completed diagnostic report for patient records or distribution.

Jul 11, 2026

When a diagnostic report is complete and signed, you can print it for patient records, physician distribution, or patient pickup.

Before you start

  • The diagnostic report must be finalized and signed by the responsible radiologist or lab specialist.
  • You need printer access or the ability to generate a PDF (most browsers support "Print to PDF").
  • Reports can be printed in your facility's standard format—ensure your print settings match your branding requirements.

Steps

  1. Open the diagnostic order or case containing the report. Open Diagnosis Orders

  2. Navigate to the Reports section and find the report you want to print.

  3. Select the signed report to view its details.

  4. Click the Print button (printer icon) on the report detail page.

  5. In the print dialog, choose your printer or select Print to PDF to save a digital copy.

  6. Adjust print settings as needed (orientation, margins, copies) and click Print or Save.

Accounting impact

Printing a diagnostic report is a documentation task and does not trigger any accounting entries. The report itself documents the clinical findings but has no direct impact on the general ledger or financial records.

Tips & common mistakes

  • Ensure the report is signed before printing. Unsigned draft reports should not be distributed to patients or external parties; print only final, signed versions.
  • Verify patient name and order details on the report preview before printing to avoid distributing reports with incorrect information.
  • Save copies as PDF for electronic patient records and archival—this ensures reports are preserved even if your printer fails.
  • Check your facility's branding settings in print templates to ensure headers, logos, and footers appear correctly on printed output.
