Specialist visit tracking
Specialist visits are follow-up appointments with doctors for a specific medical condition or procedure. In Doctor Ward, you track each visit to maintain a complete history of patient care and specialist consultations.
Before you start
- You need Doctor Ward enabled on your tenant.
- The patient must already have an active medical case or admission record.
- You should have the patient's medical record open.
- Specialist availability and appointment schedules depend on your facility's setup.
Steps
-
Go to Patients and search for the patient. Open in Usystems
-
Select the patient to open their profile.
-
Navigate to Medical Cases or Admissions (depending on the visit context). Open in Usystems
-
Open the relevant medical case or admission record.
-
Find the Visits or Specialist Visits section within the case.
-
Click Add Visit or New Specialist Visit to create a new visit entry.
-
Fill in the following details:
- Specialist type — select the medical specialty (e.g., Cardiology, Orthopedics, ENT).
- Doctor — choose the visiting specialist from the available doctors list.
- Visit date — enter the date of the specialist visit.
- Findings — document key clinical observations and examination results.
- Recommendations — note any treatment changes, investigations ordered, or follow-up actions.
-
Save the visit record.
Tips & common mistakes
- Always record the visit date accurately — this ensures your facility's timeline of care is complete and supports accurate clinical decision-making.
- Use clear, concise language in findings and recommendations — this helps all team members understand the specialist's assessment and agreed-upon next steps.
- Link related investigations or lab results to the visit if your system allows, to create a fuller clinical picture.
- Confirm the specialist is available before scheduling — check Doctor Ward staff availability or shift schedules to avoid double-booking.
