Running the Account Transfers & Account-to-Contact Movement report
Track account transfers and movements of balances between accounts and contacts.
The Account Transfers & Account-to-Contact Movement report shows all transfers of balances between accounts (including transfers to or from contacts' balances) over a date range. This is helpful for tracking internal account movements and payments applied to contact balances.
Before you start
- You need permission to access Reports.
- Decide your date range (start and end dates).
- Optionally specify accounts or contacts involved in the transfers.
Steps
-
Go to Reports. Open in Usystems
-
Look for the Account Transfers & Account-to-Contact Movement report and click it.
-
You will see a form with filter options. Enter your Start Date and End Date.
-
(Optional) Under Accounts, select specific accounts. Under Contacts, select specific contacts. Leave blank to include all.
-
Click Run Report (or the equivalent button to execute).
-
The report will load, showing transfers with source account, destination account, amount, and date.
Accounting impact
This report is read-only and shows movements that have already been posted. It does not create or modify any entries. Each transfer appears as a pair of transactions (a credit in the source account and a debit in the destination).
Tips & common mistakes
- Use this to audit balance allocations. If you have applied customer or vendor balances to invoices or bills, this report shows those allocations.
- Filter by contact to see their balance history. Select a customer or vendor to see all movements involving their balance.
- Transfers vs. journal entries. This report covers account-to-account transfers and balance allocations, not all journal entries.
