Running the Ledger report
Pull a detailed account-by-account transaction history for any date range.
The Ledger report is the detailed transaction register for all your accounts. It shows every debit and credit posted to each account over a date range, helping you verify account balances and track individual transactions.
Before you start
- You need permission to access Reports.
- Decide your date range (start and end dates).
- Optionally choose specific accounts to focus on, or run it for the whole chart.
Steps
-
Go to Reports. Open in Usystems
-
Look for the Ledger report in the reports list and click it.
-
You will see a form with filter options. Enter your Start Date and End Date.
-
(Optional) Under Accounts, select specific accounts you want to see. Leave blank to include all accounts.
-
Click Run Report (or the equivalent button to execute).
-
The report will load in a table format below the filters.
Accounting impact
The Ledger report shows all posted transactions (debits and credits) for each account. It does not create any entries itself—it is read-only. The opening balance, all transactions, and the closing balance for each account appear in order by date.
Tips & common mistakes
- Large date ranges may take longer to load. If you are pulling a full year, the report may need a moment.
- Use the filters to narrow focus. Searching by account or date range makes the report easier to scan.
- Opening and closing balances. The ledger displays the running balance after each transaction so you can verify your own records.
