What This Does
Global search is a fast way to find any document, contact, product, or page in Usystems without clicking through menus. Press a keyboard shortcut, type what you're looking for, and jump directly to it. It searches across all your data types at once.
Before You Start
- You must be logged into Usystems.
- You can only search for documents and records you have permission to access.
- The search works from any page in Usystems.
Steps
-
Press Ctrl + K on Windows/Linux, or Cmd + K on Mac. A search box will appear at the top or center of your screen.
-
Type what you're looking for. You can search by:
- Invoice number (e.g., "INV-001")
- Customer or vendor name (e.g., "Ahmed Hospital")
- Contact code (e.g., "C001")
- Product name (e.g., "Paracetamol")
- Account name (e.g., "Cash")
- Any partial word
-
As you type, matching results appear below the search box. Each result shows:
- The document or record type (Invoice, Bill, Customer, etc.)
- The name or number
- Additional detail (e.g., invoice date, contact phone)
-
Click any result to open it directly.
-
To close the search box, press Escape or click outside it.
Tips & Common Mistakes
- Searching for a number? Type the full or partial number. "INV-001" or "001" both work.
- Can't find a record? Check that it hasn't been deleted or archived. Search is limited to active records you can access.
- The search is slow? This is rare, but if you have thousands of records, try being more specific (e.g., "Ahmed" instead of "A").
- Alternative: If the keyboard shortcut doesn't work on your device, look for a search icon (magnifying glass) in the page header and click it to open the same search box.
