Notifications & Alerts

Not receiving notifications

Diagnose why you are not seeing alerts and fix common delivery issues.

Symptom

You expect to receive a notification (in-app alert or email) but it does not appear. Notifications may be missing for a specific event (such as an invoice due date or queue assignment) or for all alerts.

Likely causes

1. Notifications are disabled for your user account

In Usystems, notifications are controlled at the user level. Your account administrator may have turned off notification delivery.

Fix: Ask your administrator to check your user's notification preferences in Settings → Users & roles. Open in Usystems. Ensure that notification types relevant to your work are enabled.

2. Notifications are not configured for your role or department

Some notifications depend on group permissions or department-specific settings. If you belong to a group that does not have permission to receive a certain notification type, you will not get it.

Fix: Verify with your administrator that your role or group has the required permissions. In Settings → Users & roles → [Your group], Open in Usystems, check that your group includes permission to receive the notification type you expect.

3. Email delivery is not set up

In-app notifications appear immediately, but email notifications require your Usystems instance to have email delivery configured by your administrator. If email is not set up, you will only see in-app alerts.

Fix: Check whether you see the notification in Usystems itself. Log in and look at the notification center (the bell icon in the top right). If the alert appears there, email delivery is not available and you should refer to in-app alerts. If nothing appears, move to cause #4.

4. You have muted or filtered the notification event

Some notifications can be muted or filtered at the event level. For example, you may have turned off alerts for a specific contact, product category, or action type.

Fix: Review your notification preferences. The exact location depends on your product and the event type. Common places:

  • In-app notification settings: check if there is a "mute" or "unsubscribe" link on recent notifications.
  • Contact or document page: some alerts have a mute option on the page for that contact or document. For example, on a customer's page, you might see "Mute alerts for this contact."

5. The event has not occurred yet

Notifications are triggered only when a specific event happens. If you are waiting for an alert about a future date (such as a payment due date), the notification will not send until that date arrives or the event occurs.

Fix: Verify the event has actually occurred. For time-based notifications (reminders on a specific date or when something is overdue), ensure the current date or time has passed. Review the document or record to confirm the triggering condition exists.

6. Your notification delivery address is incorrect

If you are expecting email but your email address is not set or is incorrect, emails will not reach you.

Fix: Check your user profile. In Settings, Open in Usystems, look for an account or profile section and confirm your email address is correct and verified. Ask your administrator if you cannot locate this setting.

When to contact support

If you have checked all the above and notifications are still not arriving:

  • Note whether you expect in-app alerts, email, or both.
  • Capture the specific event that should trigger the notification (for example, an invoice ID or queue assignment).
  • Note the date and time you expected the notification.
  • Share your username and a screenshot of your notification settings.
  • Contact your Usystems support team or your system administrator with this information.
