FAQ: End of Day Report
Common questions and answers about running, reading, and using the End of Day report.
What is the difference between the End of Day report and a cash reconciliation?
The End of Day report is a summary of all transactions (sales, payments, refunds) for a time period. A cash reconciliation compares the report's expected cash balance with the actual cash in your drawer. The report tells you what the system says happened; reconciliation tells you whether the actual cash matches. If they do not match, you have a discrepancy to investigate.
Can I run the End of Day report for a date in the past?
Yes. You can run the report for any date in your system's history. Simply select the past date as your Start Date and click Run Report. This is useful for verifying activity from previous days, weeks, or months.
My report shows zero sales for today, but I know I processed transactions. Why?
Check the following:
- Date range – Make sure you selected today's date as the Start Date.
- Time range – If you set a custom time range, ensure your transactions fall within that window (for example, if you set 08:00–20:00 but processed sales at 07:00, they will not appear).
- Permissions – Confirm that your user account has permission to view reports and that the transactions were created in a product you have access to.
- Transaction status – Some transactions (like invoices) may be created but not finalized or paid. Check that you are looking at the right transaction type.
If the issue persists, contact your system administrator.
Can I export the report in a format other than PDF or Excel?
The standard export options are PDF and Excel. If you need a different format (such as CSV), check whether your report page offers additional export buttons. You can also take a screenshot of the report or copy the displayed data to paste into another application.
Does the End of Day report include pending transactions?
It depends on the transaction type. Finalized transactions (like paid sales receipts and completed payments) always appear. Unpaid invoices and pending refunds may be shown separately depending on your product settings and user role. If you need to exclude pending items, contact your administrator about available filters.
Why do I see different numbers if I run the same report twice?
If you run the report at different times on the same day and see different numbers, it is because new transactions have been created in between. The report always displays the current state of transactions at the time you run it. To lock in a specific report version, export it to a file as soon as you need it.
Can multiple users run the End of Day report at the same time?
Yes. Each user sees the report filtered by their permissions and assigned products. Two users running the same report for the same date may see different totals if they have access to different products or transaction types. This is by design and helps ensure that each user only sees data they are authorized to view.
What accounting accounts appear in the detailed accounting view?
The report shows the accounts that were actually involved in transactions during the report period. Common accounts include:
- Cash or Cash Drawer – Money received and paid out.
- Accounts Receivable – Money customers owe (from unpaid invoices).
- Sales Revenue – Income from sales receipts and invoices.
- Discounts – Any discounts applied.
- Other accounts depending on your chart of accounts and the nature of transactions.
If an account does not appear, it means no transactions posted to it during the report period.
Is there a way to schedule the End of Day report to run automatically?
The standard End of Day report runs on-demand—you generate it whenever you need it. Some advanced users or administrators may configure automated exports or email reports using integrations or custom workflows. Ask your system administrator if this feature is available in your setup.
