Running the Sales by Item report

The Sales by Item report shows how much revenue each product or service has generated during a selected time period, and how many units were sold. This is useful for identifying best-selling products, managing inventory, and planning purchasing or production.

Before you start

• You must have access to the Reports area.
• Your system administrator must have created a COMMERCIAL product for your business.
• You will need to select a date range for the report (or accept the default).
• Optional: decide if you want to filter by specific items, categories, warehouses, or other criteria.

Steps

1. Go to Reports in the main navigation. Open in Usystems

2. Look for Sales by Item Report in the list of available reports.

3. Click the Run or Generate button to open the report parameters.

4. Set your desired date range (from date and to date). The default usually shows the current month.

5. (Optional) Apply any filters:

   • Select specific items or product categories if you want to narrow results.
   • Choose a warehouse if your business has multiple locations.
   • Filter by item type (products, services, bundles) if your workflow requires it.
   • Specify a sales type (invoices, sales receipts) if needed.

6. Click Generate or Run Report to execute.

7. The report will appear on screen. You can now read and interpret the data, or proceed to export or print it.

Tips & common mistakes

• Unit of measure: Ensure you understand what "Units Sold" represents for each item—it might be pieces, kilograms, liters, or hours, depending on how you set up your product database.
• Incomplete data: If an item shows no sales despite being in your system, verify that it was actually sold during the selected date range.
• Bundled products: If your business sells bundles or kits, they may appear as a single line item rather than as separate components.
• Service items: Services may not show a quantity if they are billed by time or project rather than by unit.
