Filters and options in the Sales by Customer report

Reference for all available filters and parameters to customize your report results.

Filter / OptionPurposeNotes
Date RangeLimits the report to sales within a start and end date.Required. The default is usually the current calendar month.
From DateStart date for the report period.Transactions on or after this date are included.
To DateEnd date for the report period.Transactions on or before this date are included.
CustomerNarrows results to one or more specific customers.Optional. Leave empty to include all customers.
Payment StatusFilter by paid, unpaid, or all transactions.Optional. Filters based on whether the invoice has been fully settled.
Sales TypeLimit to invoices, sales receipts, sales orders, or a combination.Optional. Depends on your business workflow.
WarehouseIf your business uses multiple warehouses, filter by location.Optional. Only appears if your system is multi-warehouse.
CurrencySelect which currency to report in (if multi-currency is enabled).Optional. Affects all revenue and amount columns.
Include DraftsWhether to include unsent or unsigned documents.Typically No for production reports. Check if drafts should count toward revenue.
Group ByAggregate results: by customer (default), by date, or by sales type.Changes the table structure.
Columns to DisplayChoose which metrics appear in the report (revenue, transaction count, items, payment status, etc.).Optional. Reduces clutter if you only need certain metrics.

How to apply filters

  1. Open the Sales by Customer Report parameters (see "Running the Sales by Customer report").
  2. Enter or select your desired filter values.
  3. Click Generate to apply and view the updated results.
  4. To reset all filters, look for a Clear Filters or Reset button, or manually re-enter the defaults.

Common filter combinations

GoalFilters to Use
See top customers this monthDate range = current month; Payment Status = All.
Find unpaid invoices from last quarterDate range = Q3 (for example); Payment Status = Unpaid.
Check sales to a specific customerCustomer = [select one]; Date Range = desired period.
Compare sales across two locationsRun the report twice: once with Warehouse = [Location A], once with [Location B].
