Tips for using filters

  • Date range is inclusive: "From Jan 1, To Jan 31" includes both January 1 and January 31.
  • Multi-select accounts: If available, select multiple accounts to see journal entries across all of them in one run.
  • Leave blank to include all: An empty filter field means "show me all values in this dimension."
  • Journal Type combinations: Combining Journal Type filters (e.g., "Sales AND Expense") shows entries that fall into either category in your selected date range.
  • Reference searches: Most systems support partial matches. For example, searching for "INV" may return all entries with "INV" anywhere in the reference field.
  • Case-sensitive search: Check your system's help to see whether description searches are case-sensitive.
  • Date format: Use the date picker (calendar icon) to avoid formatting mistakes; manual entry may need MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY format depending on your locale.

Combining filters for powerful searches

You can combine filters to find exactly what you need:

  • By account and date: "Cash account, last 30 days" shows all cash movements recently.
  • By journal type and amount: "Expense entries over 1,000" shows large expenses.
  • By reference and date: "Invoice numbers starting with 'INV-2026,' current month" finds all current invoices.
