Filters and options in the Inventory Movement report
Customize the report to focus on the items, periods, and movements most relevant to your analysis.

Filter options
| Filter | Purpose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| From Date | Start date for the movement period (inclusive). | Required. Set to the beginning of the month, quarter, or year you want to analyze. |
| To Date | End date for the movement period (inclusive). | Required. Set to the end of your analysis period. |
| Warehouse | Limit to one warehouse or leave empty for all warehouses. | Use if your organization has multiple locations and you want to analyze each separately. |
| Item | Show movement for a single product or leave empty for all items. | Useful if you're investigating a specific item's performance. |
| Product Category | Filter to items in a specific category (e.g., Medications, Devices). | Speeds up the report and helps identify which product lines are driving volume. |
| Movement Type | Choose Receipts only, Sales only, Transfers only, or All movements. | Narrows the focus if you're interested in a specific direction of flow. |
| Minimum Quantity (optional) | Show only items with at least this many units moved in the period. | Useful to filter out trivial or sample movements. |
Report display options
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Include cost value | Adds columns for total purchase cost and total sale value, enabling cost analysis. |
| Show cost impact | Displays the gross margin or profit from movement in the period. |
| Sort by volume | Orders results by highest to lowest movement quantity. |
| Show top N items | Limits the report to the top 10, 25, or 50 movers (useful for large inventories). |
Common filter combinations
Month-over-month comparison:
- Run the report twice with the same calendar month but different years. Compare fast-movers and slow-movers to spot seasonal trends.
Warehouse performance:
- Set Warehouse to one location, leave Item empty, and run for the last quarter. See which warehouse is moving the most inventory.
New product velocity:
- Set From Date to the launch date and To Date to today, filter by the specific item or category. Measure adoption speed.
Dead stock identification:
- Set Minimum Quantity to 0, Movement Type to "Sales only," and use a date range covering the last 6 months. Items with zero sales are candidates for removal.
High-value items:
- Filter by Category or Item, enable "Include cost value," and sort by value. Focus on protecting and optimizing your highest-investment inventory.
