The Inventory Value report shows the total dollar (or currency) value of every item in stock, multiplied by its cost or selling price. Use this report to understand the financial position of your inventory, track asset values, and support accounting and planning decisions.
Before you start
- You need view inventory permissions.
- Items must have a cost price (or selling price) assigned.
- Your system must be configured to use inventory costing methods (FIFO, average cost, etc.).
Steps
-
Navigate to Reports → Inventory section. Open in Usystems
-
Select Inventory Value Report from the list.
-
(Optional) Apply filters:
- Warehouse — see value in one location or all locations.
- Item Category — focus on one product type.
- Costing method — choose how items are valued (FIFO, average, last cost, etc.).
- Currency — if you trade in multiple currencies, filter by one.
- Date — view inventory value as of a specific date.
-
Click Run Report or Generate.
-
The report displays a table with item names, quantities, unit costs, and total values.
-
At the bottom, a Total Inventory Value summary shows the grand total.
Tips & common mistakes
- Value depends on cost assignment. If an item's cost is not set, it may show $0 even if in stock.
- Multiple warehouses show separately. Total value includes all warehouses unless you filter by location.
- The date matters for costing. If you use FIFO, the value may change based on the date you view, because cost depends on which lot was received.
