Printing a sales receipt

Output a sales receipt to paper or PDF for your customer.

Jul 11, 2026

A sales receipt is a physical or digital document given to a customer at the time of a sale. Printing it confirms the transaction and provides proof of payment.

Before you start

  • You must have created or retrieved a sales receipt in Usystems.
  • Your system must be connected to a printer, or you must have a PDF viewer installed.
  • You should know whether you want to print immediately or save as PDF first.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the receipt. Open Sales Receipts → View Receipt (or find the receipt in the list) by clicking its number or row. Open in Usystems

  2. Look for the print option on the receipt page. This is usually a Print button or menu action near the top or bottom of the document view.

  3. Choose your printer or PDF export:

    • To print directly, select your printer from the system print dialog that appears.
    • To save as PDF, choose "Save as PDF" from the print dialog (available on most browsers).
  4. Adjust print settings if needed: Most systems allow you to choose page orientation (portrait/landscape), paper size, and margins. Use the defaults unless you have a custom template.

  5. Confirm and print. Click the Print or Save button. Your receipt will be sent to the printer or saved to your device.

Tips & common mistakes

  • Save a backup before printing. PDF receipts are useful for your records; keep a dated folder.
  • Check your print template first. If the receipt looks wrong or is missing fields, you may need to customize the template (see the "Choosing and customizing the sales receipt print template" article).
  • Test with a sample receipt. If you're printing for the first time, print one test receipt to check alignment and layout before using your regular stock.
