What is a cashier's role?
As a cashier, you are the first point of contact for sales and payments in your organization. Your main responsibilities are:
- Record sales — whether in-person (using POS) or on-demand
- Receive and process payments — cash, card, or other methods
- Issue receipts — so customers have proof of purchase
- Count and reconcile — track money in and out of your drawer
Cashiers are essential to keeping the daily flow of money accurate and transparent.
Where are your main tools?
When you log into Usystems, look for these sections on the left-hand menu:

What happens on your first day
- Receive your login. Your manager will give you a username and password.
- Learn your company's setup. Ask about:
- Where inventory is stored (if applicable)
- Which accounts or cost centers to use
- How to handle returns or discounts
- Practice recording a small sale. If you use POS, ring up a test transaction. If you use invoices, create and save one (don't submit it yet).
- Ask for help. Your supervisor or another cashier can walk you through the first real transaction.
Key numbers to know
- Your drawer ID or cashier code (if your company uses one)
- Which currency you accept (AFN, USD, or others)
- Your company's name and account information (for your own reference)
