Company-wide language, timezone, calendar and week start
Set company-wide defaults for language, timezone, calendar system, and first day of week.
Company-wide language, timezone, calendar system, and week start settings ensure consistent date display and terminology across all users and reports. These defaults apply to everyone unless you allow users to override them in their personal settings.
Before you start
- You must be logged in as a user with Company Settings or Admin access.
- Changing these settings affects all future displays of dates, times, and UI text for all users.
- Individual users can override language and calendar settings (if allowed) in their personal preferences.
- Timezones affect how Usystems interprets times and schedules. Choose the timezone where your company is located.
Steps
Set default language
-
Go to Company Settings. Click your name or avatar in the top-right corner, then select Settings. Open in Usystems
-
Find Locale or Language. Look for a section titled Company Locale, Language Settings, or Appearance & Locale.
-
Select default language:
- English — all UI text in English
- Dari (fa) — all UI text in Afghan Dari (Farsi)
- Pashto (ps) — all UI text in Pashto
-
If multi-language is enabled, check Allow users to override language so users can choose their own language in personal settings.
-
Save your changes. Click Save or Apply.
Set default calendar system
-
In the same Locale section, find Default Calendar or Calendar System.
-
Choose a calendar:
- Jalali (Solar Hijri) — standard in Afghanistan and Iran; dates like 1403/01/15
- Gregorian — international standard; dates like 2024/03/15
-
If multi-language is enabled, check Allow users to override calendar so users can choose their own calendar in personal settings.
-
Save your changes. Click Save or Apply.
Set first day of week
-
Still in Locale settings, find Week Start Day or First Day of Week.
-
Choose the first day of your business week:
- Saturday — standard in Afghanistan and surrounding regions
- Sunday — common in Middle East and some Western countries
- Monday — common in Europe and Asia
-
Save your changes. Click Save or Apply.
Set timezone (if available)
-
Look for a Timezone or Company Timezone field in Locale settings.
-
Select your timezone:
- Examples: Asia/Kabul (Afghanistan), Asia/Tehran (Iran), Asia/Karachi (Pakistan)
- The timezone determines how times are stored and displayed in reports, schedules, and logs.
-
Save your changes. Click Save or Apply.
Accounting impact
- Dates in journal entries, invoices, and reports use the selected calendar system (Jalali or Gregorian).
- Fiscal year boundaries align with the calendar system (Jalali years run differently than Gregorian years).
- Timezone settings affect the timestamp recorded for financial transactions and help ensure accurate audit trails.
Tips & common mistakes
- Coordinate with your accounting team before changing the calendar system. Existing reports and documents will display in the new calendar immediately.
- Jalali dates in reports are display-only; the underlying data is stored consistently. Changing from Jalali to Gregorian does not lose data.
- Timezone affects scheduling and time-stamped events. If your company spans multiple timezones, choose the primary office location.
- User overrides take precedence if enabled. A user in a different timezone can set their own personal timezone in their profile.
- All new dates (invoices, payments, journal entries) will be recorded in the company calendar. Historical dates remain unchanged.
- The week start affects calendar views and reports only. It does not change how weeks are counted in aging reports or fiscal periods.
