Bundles: selling components as one line
A bundle keeps its components hidden; customers see one line, your inventory tracks the parts.

What is a Bundle?
A bundle is a group product that appears as a single line on sales and purchase documents, but behind the scenes, the system tracks and consumes its component inventory. Unlike a kit, the bundle does not expand into separate line items.
Why Bundles Matter
Bundles simplify your customer experience while keeping inventory accurate:
- Clean documents: Invoices and sales orders show one line per bundle, not a dozen component lines. Customers see what they ordered.
- Hidden complexity: Your internal components—sizes, variants, or sourcing details—stay out of sight.
- Inventory accuracy: When a bundle is sold, the system reduces each component from warehouse stock, just as it would for a kit.
- Pricing flexibility: You set the bundle price once; component cost changes don't force document rewrites.
How Bundles Work in Usystems
- You create a group product marked as a bundle and define its components and quantities.
- When you add the bundle to an invoice, sales order, purchase order, or bill, it appears as a single line with the bundle's name and price.
- Usystems silently reduces inventory for each component based on the bundle's composition.
- Reports and ledger entries reflect the actual component costs, ensuring accurate cost tracking.
Bundles vs. Kits
A kit expands into multiple lines on the document, showing each component separately. Choose a bundle when you want a cleaner document layout and a kit when component transparency is important to the customer or for internal operations.
Where You See Bundles
- Creating sales documents: Invoices → New Invoice Open in Usystems or Sales Orders Open in Usystems
- Creating purchase documents: Bills → New Bill Open in Usystems or Purchase Orders Open in Usystems
- Inventory tracking: Inventory Open in Usystems shows component stock levels (not the bundle itself)
- Product list: Products & Services Open in Usystems displays the bundle with a group-product icon
