Printing receipts at the POS
Print a customer receipt immediately after a sale or retrieve and reprint an existing receipt.
After completing a sale at the POS register, you can print a receipt for the customer. The receipt shows all items purchased, payment method, total amount, and a receipt number for your records. You can also reprint a receipt later if needed.
Before you start
- The sale must be completed and payment confirmed.
- A receipt printer must be connected to your POS device or terminal.
- You should have permission to print documents in your organization's settings.
- Have the receipt number ready if you are reprinting an old receipt.
Steps
Printing immediately after a sale
-
After the customer's payment is confirmed, the register displays the receipt confirmation screen.
-
Look for the Print button or receipt printing option on the screen. Open in Usystems
-
Click Print Receipt or the print icon.
-
The receipt will print to the connected printer. Verify that:
- The receipt prints clearly without smudging.
- All items, quantities, and the total amount are visible.
- The receipt number and date are printed.
-
Tear off the receipt or remove it from the printer and hand it to the customer.
Reprinting an existing receipt
-
Go to Point of Sale → Sales Receipts or the receipts list. Open in Usystems
-
Find the receipt you want to reprint by scrolling or using the search feature.
-
Open the receipt details by clicking on it.
-
Click the Reprint or Print button on the receipt detail page.
-
The receipt will print to your connected printer with the original details.
Accounting impact
Printing the receipt does not affect accounting records—the sale is already recorded in the system when payment is confirmed. The receipt is a customer copy for documentation only.
Tips & common mistakes
- Printer connection: Ensure your POS device is connected to the receipt printer. If nothing prints, check that the printer is powered on and connected.
- Paper stock: Use proper receipt paper (thermal or standard bond) appropriate for your printer to avoid poor-quality prints.
- Reprinting old receipts: You can reprint any completed receipt at any time; reprinting does not create a duplicate transaction or affect accounting.
- Missing receipts: If a receipt fails to print immediately after a sale, you can always find and reprint it later from the Sales Receipts list.
- Customer copies: Always provide a printed receipt or digital copy (if available) to the customer for their records.
