Fuel sales with the Amount ⇄ Quantity keypad

The Gas Station POS register lets you ring up fuel sales using either the total amount you receive or the quantity dispensed. A toggle button on the keypad lets you switch between these two modes instantly, making transactions faster at busy times.

Before you start

  • Your POS register is configured for Gas Station mode.
  • Fuel products are set up in your product catalog with both litre and amount pricing.
  • You have permission to ring up and process sales.

Steps

  1. Go to POS → Ring Up Sale. Open in Usystems

  2. Select your fuel product from the product list (for example, "Petrol 92" or "Diesel").

  3. Look at the keypad in the sale line. You will see:

    • A toggle button showing either "Amount" or "Quantity"
    • A numerical entry field below it
    • Arrow buttons to adjust the value
  4. To ring up by total amount: Keep the toggle on Amount. Type the amount the customer will pay (for example, 500 AFN).

  5. To ring up by quantity dispensed: Click the toggle to switch to Quantity. Type the number of litres (for example, 25). The system calculates the total amount automatically.

  6. Click the toggle button at any time during the transaction to switch between modes. The sale line updates immediately.

  7. Complete the sale as usual: add payment method, confirm, and finalize.

Accounting impact

The fuel sale posts to your sales revenue account at the transaction total. If using batch-specific unit conversions, the quantity is recorded in the batch's litre equivalent.

Tips & common mistakes

  • The toggle is per line—you can sell one product by amount and another by quantity in the same sale.
  • If you switch modes partway through (for example, Amount → Quantity), the sale is recalculated using the new mode and the value you entered.
  • Always confirm that the amount shown matches what you expect before finalizing payment.
  • If a fuel product shows "no price," check that it is set up with a cost and sales price in your catalog.
