Q: Can I switch between Amount and Quantity mode during a single sale?
Yes. The Amount ⇄ Quantity toggle is available for each line in the sale, and you can change it at any time. When you switch modes, the sale line recalculates automatically based on the new mode and the value you've entered.
Q: What happens if I don't set a batch conversion?
If a batch has no conversion defined, the system assumes 1 unit = 1 litre. This means your POS will operate correctly, but the physical-unit deduction may not match your actual barrel/tank count. Set the conversion to ensure inventory accuracy.
Q: Can different batches of the same product have different conversions?
Yes. This is exactly what per-batch conversion is designed for. You might receive Petrol 92 from two suppliers: Supplier A delivers barrels of 200 litres each, Supplier B delivers barrels of 190 litres each. Each batch stores its own conversion, so POS sales use the correct litre-to-unit ratio.
Q: If I ring up a sale by Amount, does inventory still get deducted?
Yes. Whether you ring up by Amount or Quantity, the sale is linked to a batch, and inventory is deducted in the base unit using that batch's conversion. An Amount sale with the conversion 1 barrel = 200 litres will subtract the correct number of barrels from stock.
Q: How do I know which batch a POS sale came from?
When you ring up a fuel sale, the system uses the first available batch of that product (usually FIFO—first in, first out). If you need to track which batch was sold, check the inventory movement or stock report after the sale completes.
Q: What if my conversion changes mid-week?
Conversions are per-batch, so a new conversion only applies to new sales after you change it. Sales already completed using the old conversion keep the old numbers in the record. If a batch's conversion is truly wrong and needs to be corrected, apply the fix going forward and contact your admin for historical reconciliation if needed.
Q: Can I have a partial litre sale (e.g., 25.5 litres)?
Yes. The Quantity keypad accepts decimal values, so you can ring up 25.5, 0.75, or any fraction. The system will calculate the cost and inventory deduction proportionally.
Q: Why does the POS not show my newly created fuel product?
The product might not be assigned to the Gas Station ref_product, or it might not be marked as active. Check the product's Ref Product and Status fields. If it is set correctly, refresh your browser and try again.
