Creating and configuring a queue
Set up a new queue to manage patient arrivals and appointments.
A queue (نوبت) in Usystems manages the flow of patients through a department or clinic. Each queue is created for a specific department or service location and holds configuration for how patients receive and use tokens.
Before you start
- You must have admin or setup permissions for your department or facility
- Decide which department or clinic section this queue will serve
- Optionally have a list of users who will call and serve tokens
- Optional: if your facility uses global tokens (one token across multiple departments), read about that first
Steps
-
Go to Settings → Queues and click New Queue or similar create button. Open in Usystems
-
Enter a Queue name that clearly identifies the department or location (e.g., "General Clinic", "Pediatrics", "Emergency").
-
Choose the Department this queue is assigned to. Only patient arrivals and appointments in that department will appear here.
-
Choose whether this queue uses global tokens (one token works across multiple queues) or queue-specific tokens (separate tokens for each queue).
- Leave global off if each queue should have its own independent queue number sequence
- Check global if your facility uses one numbered token system shared across departments
-
Optionally add Assigned staff — select users who are authorized to call and serve tokens from this queue. If none are selected, all staff can use the queue.
-
Save the queue.
Tips & common mistakes
- Queue names should be unique to avoid confusion — e.g., use "Ward A", "Ward B" rather than "Main Queue 1", "Main Queue 2"
- If you plan to print queue tickets, test the print layout after creating the queue to ensure it fits your printer
- Changing the department or global setting on an active queue can affect in-progress tokens; avoid changes during patient flow
- The queue will not show tokens until patients have actually arrived or an appointment has been created in that department
