Setting up two-factor authentication (2FA)

Add an extra layer of security by requiring a second verification step when you log in.

Jul 11, 2026

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security feature that requires you to verify your identity in two ways when you log in: first with your password, and then with a second verification method. This protects your account even if someone knows your password.

Before you start

  • You must be logged into your Usystems account.
  • You need a device (smartphone or tablet) that can receive authentication codes via an authenticator app, text message (SMS), or email.
  • Set up an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy) on your mobile device before enabling 2FA.

Steps

  1. Log in to Usystems and go to Settings → Account Settings or your security preferences. Open in Usystems

  2. Look for the Two-Factor Authentication or 2FA section.

  3. Click Enable 2FA or Turn On Two-Factor Authentication.

  4. Choose your verification method:

    • Authenticator App: Scan the QR code displayed on the screen using your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy).
    • SMS/Text Message: Provide your mobile phone number and Usystems will send a verification code to your phone.
    • Email: Usystems will send a verification code to your registered email address.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions. You may be asked to enter a verification code to confirm the setup.

  6. Enter the code from your chosen method (from your authenticator app, text message, or email) in the field provided.

  7. Click Confirm or Activate 2FA to complete the setup.

  8. Save your recovery codes in a safe place. These codes allow you to regain access if you lose access to your verification method.

Accounting impact

Two-factor authentication affects your access to financial records and transaction approval workflows. Enabling 2FA ensures that only you can authorize sensitive financial actions on your account.

Tips & common mistakes

  • Save recovery codes immediately. If you lose access to your authenticator app or phone number, recovery codes are your only way back into your account. Store them securely.
  • Use a backup method. If possible, set up 2FA on multiple devices or enable both an authenticator app and SMS backup.
  • Don't share codes. Never share your verification codes or recovery codes with anyone, including Usystems support staff.
  • Synced time. If using an authenticator app, make sure your device's date and time are set correctly — codes are time-sensitive and will not work if your device clock is wrong.
