Setting up the POS product grid

The product grid on the POS register shows the items cashiers can quickly tap to ring up sales. By default, you can customize which products appear on the grid, how they are arranged, and whether to show categories or search.

Before you start

• You need admin or POS configuration access.
• Products must already exist in your system (see your product or inventory section).
• The grid can display dozens of items; organize them by category if your inventory is large.
• Know which products are most frequently sold; prioritize those in the grid.

Steps

1. Go to Settings (or Admin Settings). Open in Usystems

2. Look for POS Settings, Register Configuration, or POS Grid Setup (exact name varies by installation).

3. In the product grid section:

   • Choose which products to display on the grid. You may see a searchable list or category selection.
   • If your system supports it, arrange products by category or frequency (most-sold first).
   • Set the grid layout (e.g., 4 columns, 5 columns) if configurable.

4. Some systems allow you to:

   • Hide out-of-stock items (optional).
   • Show product images in the grid (for visual recognition).
   • Enable quick quantity input (so cashiers can type instead of tapping multiple times).

5. Save your configuration. The changes apply immediately to the register.

6. Test the register: open the POS Register page and verify products appear as expected. Open in Usystems

Tips & common mistakes

• Too many products: if the grid becomes too crowded, hide slow-moving items. Cashiers can search for rare products instead of scrolling.
• Category tabs: if your system supports category tabs or filters, use them to organize the grid for speed.
• Images help: product images (small thumbnails) can reduce errors and speed up selection, especially in fast-paced environments.
• Not immediately visible: changes to the grid configuration may require a page refresh or sign-out/sign-in to take effect on active POS terminals.
